LATISSE™

Eyelashes are an important piece of overall beauty of the face. Mascara companies are always advertising products that give wearers longer, fuller lashes. However, as soon as the makeup is removed, lashes go back to their original state.

Latisse® offers those who may feel as though they suffer from inadequate eyelashes an alternative solution to building lashes up with cosmetics. With daily application of the specialized, topical solution, Latisse® encourages the growth of longer, fuller, and darker lashes and strengthens each lash while extending its growing cycle.

Gradually building up the thickness and span of lashes, Latisse® is an excellent solution for those who feel as though their short or thin eyelashes prevent them from truly shining.

LATISSE™ FAQ

How does Latisse® work?
Latisse® works by nourishing the eyelashes. The active ingredient, bimatoprost, works to increase the number of eyelashes while simultaneously lengthening the growth phase of each lash. Latisse® also works to darken the lashes, producing the effect of mascara without the daily hassle of application, smearing, and removal.

How long before I see results from Latisse®?
Latisse® works gradually to build eyelashes. Patients will begin to see an increase in the thickness and length of their lashes between 3 to 8 weeks with full results reported after 12-16 weeks of use.

If I apply Latisse® more than once a day, will I get faster results?
Applying Latisse® more than once a day is not recommended. The daily application will gradually increase lash length and thickness over the 16 week period and maintain the results after the full results have been achieved. Applying the solution more than the doctor-recommended amount may result in adverse effects.

How do I maintain the results of Latisse®?
If you stop the daily application of Latisse®, your lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance; therefore, regular application is necessary for maintenance.

Can I use Latisse® on my eyebrows?
Latisse® is FDA approved for use on the upper eyelid only. This means that clinical studies have not been performed to test the effect Latisse® may have on your eyebrows. For those looking to enhance the shade or definition of eyebrows, AYA Medical Spa offers permanent makeup options to add color to that area.

Why is Latisse® available by prescription only?
Just as with any other cosmetic treatment or medication, Latisse® has the potential to interact with other medications (such as prescription eye drops that lower intraocular pressure) or cause adverse effects when a patient has certain eye conditions (like certain cases of glaucoma). It is important to discuss any current medications or medical conditions with your AYA provider to ensure that it will be safe for your use.
