Veins are an important component of the circulatory system; however, visible veins can be a telltale sign of age. Whether they appear on the legs or face as spider veins or the result of another skin condition, visible veins can be embarrassing and unsightly. Often caused by the body’s inadequate regulation of blood flow through the vessels, spider veins can appear as purple, red, or blue branches of veins that look like spider webs or tree branches just under the skin’s surface. On the face, visible veins most often appear as red lines around the nose, mouth, and cheeks.

What causes visible veins?
Visible veins on the face or legs (spider veins) are the result of a weakened blood vessel. After oxygenated blood is pushed from the heart throughout the body, the leg muscles help return the blood back to the heart again. In the legs, the veins have valves that do not allow the blood to fall back downward due to the effects of gravity. When these valves weaken, the blood collects causing spider veins.
Visible veins in the face (or telangiectasias) are often a sign of age or a symptom of another skin condition like rosacea.
How does the eMax™ with elōs™ system work?
AYA Medical Spa’s laser vein treatment, the eMax™ with elōs™ system, work by combining laser and radiofrequency energies to eliminate the appearance of visible veins. The two technologies combined provide selective thermolysis (or heat energy) to the weakened vein, destroying it. The vein is broken up in the process and absorbed by the immune system.
Is laser vein removal painful?
Because the eMax™ system with elōs™ is a heat-based laser and radiofrequency system, patients often wonder if they will feel uncomfortable during the vein removal process. However, the applicator of the system includes a built-in, on-contact cooling segment to ensure patient comfort and protection.
How many laser vein treatments should I receive for full effects? And how often do I need to receive treatments?
Each patient’s situation is different. You’ll need to speak with one of AYA Medical Spa’s trained and licensed providers about your cosmetic goals beforehand. Most patients see full results in as little as 1 to 3 treatments, with each session 6 to 8 weeks apart. Patients with more complex or concentrated visible veins may require more treatments.
Is eMax™ with elōs™ vein removal safe?
Elōs™ requires low energy levels for optimum results and safety. The majority of patients experience little to no side effects, though a few report short-term reddening at the treatment site. The eMax™ the elōs™ vein treatment also requires no downtime.
