Spring is finally here and it’s time to update our skincare regimen once again. With the days getting longer and temperatures beginning to rise, we
couldn’t be happier to be swapping out our sweaters for shorts and sandals. But while you may be ready for spring, your skin may still be recovering from the cold, dry winter. Now is the perfect time to prepare your skin for the conditions of springtime. With this in mind, the skincare experts at AYA™ Medical Spa have a few tips on how to keep your skin healthy, hydrated, and looking great all spring long:
Apply Sunscreen Daily
The arrival of spring likely means more time spent outside enjoying the weather. However, more time outside means more exposure to the sun’s UV rays, so it’s important to keep your skin protected. Even on days when the temperature is cooler, too much sun can lead to premature aging and other skin damage. That’s why we recommend applying a broad-spectrum SPF from EltaMD® daily.
Start Taking Cooler Showers
Hot showers can be very soothing (especially during the colder months), but they may also be doing more harm than good to your complexion. Although hotter water temperatures may feel good, they can make your skin drier and even damage your skin over time. Lukewarm or cooler showers can improve blood flow and help your skin and overall complexion.
Take Care of Your Eyes
As the sun becomes brighter and more prominent in the spring, we tend to squint more. Squinting can contribute to premature signs of aging around the eyes like fine lines and wrinkles (AKA crow’s feet). To help combat this, we recommend adding an eye cream like Revision® Skincare DEJ Eye Cream to your spring skincare regimen and being proactive with Botox® Injections to help make your squinting lines more subtle.
Don’t Forget to Treat Your Neck & Chest
Unlike during the winter when these areas are largely concealed, our necks and chest areas are more vulnerable to sun damage during pool and beach season. When applying moisturizers or undergoing cosmetic laser treatments, it’s important to remember that the neck and chest areas are just as vulnerable to aging and sun damage as our face.
