AYA Med Spa Pro Skin Tip: Moisturize When Your Skin Is Still Damp

Whether you are washing your hands or coming out of the shower, blot or pat the skin dry rather than rubbing it to help retain more moisture. Apply a thick moisturizer within a few minutes after bathing to seal the water into the skin.

Does Higher SPF Give Higher Coverage Against the Sun?

Contrary to popular belief, higher sun protection factors aren’t necessarily recommended by dermatologists.
Article insights from Allure Magazine.

There’s some collective confusion around whether a sunscreen with a higher sun protection factor — say, SPF 100 — actually means higher sun protection compared to an SPF of 30 or 50. Logic would tell us that higher SPF = better protection, right?

The sun protection factor (SPF) is only a measure of how well a sunscreen protects the skin against UVB rays, and no sunscreen is 100 percent effective.

What do SPF numbers mean?

Let’s start with how the SPF system works: SPF 15 guards against 93 percent of UVB rays, SPF 30 protects against 97 percent, SPF 50 is about 98 percent, and SPF 100 blocks 99 percent. Basically, a product with SPF 15 will give you the same amount of UV exposure after 15 minutes that you would get after one minute being outdoors unprotected.

Does higher SPF sunscreen protect your skin better?

Essentially, yes. In a 2018 study, it was shown that when placing SPF 50 on one side of the face and SPF 100 on the other, sun damage was higher on the SPF 50 side regardless of age and skin type.

Does higher SPF sunscreen protect your skin better?

It depends! While an SPF above 60 may offer greater protection again UVB, due to photochemistry, it typically has less UVA protection. Both matter. High SPF can also promote a false sense of security and cause people to forget necessary reapplication. Other factors such as chemical concentration and pollutants also make a difference.

The Bottom Line?

Using sunscreen every day and reapplying throughout the day are key. Make sure sunscreen is Broad Spectrum to account for both UVA and UVB sunscreens. For those concerned with chemicals, opt for mineral-based options. And, overall, higher SPF does matter.

Nutrafol vs. Biotin: Hair Growth Essentials

Biotin has long been hailed as the nutrient for skin, hair, and nail growth and health. But, is biotin really the key to luscious and voluminous locks?

Data Deficiency

There have been no clinical trials showing biotin alone is effective for hair thinning or growth. Biotin helps turn food into energy, making it a helpful nutrient for cell metabolism and supporting body function.

However, the only study to support biotin for hair growth is when taken in conjunction to certain botanicals and other ingredients.

Unlike Biotin, Nutrafol has been clinically shown to promote hair growth and fullness in 80% of study participants. Benefits of Nutrafol include:

Nutrafol uses a combination of natural ingredients including Ashwagandha, Collagen Peptides, Kelp, Keratin, Vitamin E, and more supporting nutrients and amino acids.

This combination of ingredients supports several body functions that contribute to hair growth from hormones, to metabolism, to aging, nutrition, and more.
