Dear #AYA: How to Refresh Sun Damaged Skin

August 31, 2019 | Blog

How to Refresh Sun Damaged SkinSummer has officially come to an end. While we all love the fun in the sun that the summer season brings, all that time spent outside in the heat can take a toll on our skin. Sun damage can affect any area of a person’s skin that is overexposed to the sun’s powerful UV rays. In order to help our patients transition out of summer and into fall, we wanted to answer a few questions about how to rejuvenate sun damaged skin.

Dear #AYA,

Are there any Chemical Peels intended to help treat sun damage on the face?

Sincerely,
Feeling the Burn

We offer a variety of chemical peels that are designed to treat different aesthetic issues. For sun damage, we may recommend the Vitalize Peel. The Vitalize Peel is specially formulated to help sooth sun damaged facial skin, as well as other issues including acne, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and melasma. This mild chemical peel uses alpha hydroxy acid to improve the skin’s complexion, tone, and texture while also reducing effects of sun damage and natural aging.

Dear #AYA,

I’ve heard laser treatments can help with sun damage but I am a bit uneasy about trying them. Are these lasers safe?

Sincerely,
Just Being Cautious

Cosmetic laser treatments can be an excellent and safe way to improve the appearance of the skin’s surface and promote healthier, younger-looking skin. Here at AYA, our licensed estheticians have years of experience custom-tailoring Sciton® Laser Treatments for each individual patient we see. We personally recommend Sciton® BBL for patients who seek to reduce sun damage from their face, neck, and shoulders.

Dear #AYA,

Can sun damage be treated with Skincare Products?

Sincerely,
Looking for an Answer

In some cases, certain skincare products can be all a patient needs to replenish their sun damaged skin. We offer the Body Kit from Environ® for skin in need of nourishment and hydration. The Body Kit combines two outstanding formulas to soothe sun damage by softening rough and calloused skin while providing essential rejuvenating nutrients.

We hope you found these answers helpful. Here at AYA, we pride ourselves on our ability to find the right cosmetic treatments and skincare products for every patient’s unique complexion. If you’re not sure about which treatments or products may be the most helpful for your skin, we invite you to come into any of our locations (including our newest location in Buckhead) for a complimentary skincare analysis appointment.
