Dear #AYAGirls: Nonsurgical Laser Treatments

October 19, 2015 | Blog

Nonsurgical Laser TreatmentsOur recent Fall Open House Event gave us a chance to round up a new batch of skincare patient questions and there were tons of great ones to choose from! One of the most common topics we discussed was in regards to patients who were curious about the benefits of laser treatments as it pertains to achieving smooth and younger-looking skin.  Technology keeps advancing and providing us with alternative ways to tackle hair removal, scarring or even facial aging faster and safer than ever before.  Especially for those who aren’t ready to take the plastic surgery route, nonsurgical laser treatments could be just the thing to consider trying.

Dear #AYAGirls,

I’ve suffered from acne scarring for as long as I can remember but I’m not sure if chemical peels are helping as much as I had hoped.  Are there any additional skincare treatments that could be combined for helping reduce the scars’ appearance?

 Sincerely,

Mrs. Scar Face

Dear Mrs. Scar Face,

One of our newest lasers, Sciton®, is great for scar revision treatments!  This advanced laser system can treat skin conditions from wrinkles to sagging skin, melasma, hyperpigmentation, and in your case, scars.  Within the Sciton® family we house three different lasers that each have their own unique capabilities of treating scarring individually or being combined to offer maximum benefit for our patients.  The Sciton® MicroLaserPeel, BroadBand Light and ProFractional are the main systems we recommend for reducing the appearance of scarring because we believe they can offer patients the most versatile and technologically-advanced exfoliation and facial rejuvenation on today’s market.  Chemical peels are great for treating superficial concerns on the surface of the skin but they aren’t quite powerful enough to penetrate deeper into the lower layers of the dermis in the same way lasers are able.  Sciton® scar revision treatments are safe to use on patients of all skin types to treat scars in even the most difficult to reach areas of the face and body.

Dear #AYAGirls,

I may be a University of Georgia football fan, but I’m not a fan of resembling their bulldog mascot Uga.  I’m not ready for a facelift but this sagging skin is unflattering since it makes me look much older than I really am.  Help!

Sincerely,

Loosey Goosey

Dear Loosey Goosey,

Look no further than considering the nonsurgical facelift treatment we know and love – Ultherapy® skin tightening.  If the name alone doesn’t tell you what it’s best at (hint: tightening the skin), let us share some of the amazing abilities this laser system has.  Using ultrasound-generated heat, the Ulthera® system stimulates collagen growth in the deeper layers of the skin to help tighten weakened tissue, produce more collagen and in turn, lift sagging neck and facial skin to give patients a younger-looking appearance.
