Exfoliation Key in Springtime Skin Rejuvenation

microdermabrasion at AYA medicalIf you haven’t already noticed, the escalating temperatures here in Atlanta can take a toll on your skin.  According to a recent article published by The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, shifting atmospheric conditions and changes to indoor air temperature can exaggerate symptoms of skin conditions like rosacea, psoriasis, and eczema.  Additionally, our skin has a tendency to increase the amount of oil it produces during warmer summer months which can lead to acne breakouts if you’re prone to the condition.

If you’re noticing increased severity of any of these conditions, we have answers.  AYA Medical Spa offers several methods of controlled exfoliation that can help lessen your symptoms like chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and even manual exfoliation.  The recommended type of exfoliation treatment will depend upon your skin condition(s) and the cosmetic needs identified with an expert skin analysis, but the below descriptions are a general overview of the procedures available to help ensure that skin you’re getting ready to show off looks its best.

Chemical peels offer customizable levels of exfoliation through the applications of various plant and fruit-based acids.  Chemical peels are effective in reducing rough patches, the appearance of active acne, and even mild to moderate wrinkles.  AYA medical spa’s Vi Peel is the newest addition to our chemical peels menu and can be used not only to rejuvenate the face, but also on the chest, arms, and even hands.

Like chemical peels, a microdermabrasion treatment can help remove dull surface skin cells contributing to clogged pores and an aged appearance.  AYA Medical Spa’s Diamondtome micoderm treatment uses tiny diamond chips to gently polish the top layers of skin and promote skin cell turnover for all skin types.  We also have Megapeel® microdermabrasion treatments for those patients in need of more extensive exfoliation.

Manual exfoliation with the proper skin care products is a helpful tool in maintaining the radiance of your newly rejuvenated skin.  It’s important to know what to look for in the scrubs you apply daily as certain jagged particulates (like certain plant husks or natural sandy fragments) in some over-the-counter exfoliating washes can actually irritate the skin and exacerbate certain skin conditions.

If you think your skin is in need of exfoliation call our Phipps Plaza or Northside offices to schedule your complimentary skin analysis.
