Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures Are for More than Just the Face

April 05, 2013 | Blog

With the increase of non-surgical cosmetic procedures talked about in the media, some people assume these treatments are only for the face. While certain treatments such as cosmetic injectables and chemical peels are designed to mainly treat the face, AYA Medical Spa also offers minimally invasive cosmetic treatments for other areas of the body. In addition to signs of aging, many patients are bothered by unwanted hair, stubborn fat, and lax skin. We offer treatments such as laser skin resurfacing, Ultherapy®, and CoolSculpting® to address various problem areas of the body.

Laser treatments can treat unwanted hair and vascular lesions located anywhere on the body from the face and neck down to the legs. At AYA, we offer Sciton® BroadBand Light and Candela GentleMAX as two hair removal options. Laser hair removal uses light energy and electric pulses to heat and destroy hair follicles, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. Laser vein removal is similar to the technology behind our hair treatments as our eMax system uses laser and heat energy to break up the weakened vein for re-absorption into the body. These laser treatments are safe and minimally invasive with little to no downtime.

In addition to our laser system, Ulthera® is a skin tightening technology that uses ultrasound energy to lift and firm sagging skin for the neck and face. This technology is similar to laser skin treatments because it uses heat to stimulate collagen production. Patients often want to remove excess skin that contributes to a tired or sagging appearance. Without the use of any liposuction or excision, Ulthera® safely reduces sagging skin, droopy eyelids, and more.

While lasers and Ultherapy® use heat energy, CoolSculpting® is another new technology that actually uses cold temperatures to treat small pockets of stubborn fat on the hips, flanks, or abdomen. Using a process called cryolipolysis, CoolSculpting® externally applies cold temperatures to freeze targeted fat cells. The frozen fat will then be naturally expelled through the body’s lymphatic system. Since the body gradually processes the targeted cells, patients usually report a 20-40% fat reduction within a few months after treatment. CoolSculpting® is non-invasive and patients are able to relax during treatment.
