Our Sciton® laser system is the most versatile and technologically advanced resurfacing laser system available today. It allows our licensed estheticians and physicians to treat virtually any skin condition ranging from facial veins and pigmentation to wrinkles and acne scarring. Our Sciton® laser utilizes multiple modalities so each treatment can be customized and designed to fit each patient’s skin type and condition. Since the Sciton® laser system can be used for a multitude of treatments, our estheticians answer a few frequently asked questions they hear from patients:
“What is laser resurfacing and what are the benefits?”
A Sciton® laser peel removes layers of damaged skin that causes the skin to look dull and tired as we age. Sun damage and other free radicals can cause the skin to develop age spots, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles and vascular conditions. Over time our skin becomes tough, discolored and non-reflective. The Sciton® laser provides superior results because it can be administered with great precision of depth, specific to your condition and desired downtime. Every procedure is customizable to you and your needs.
After the procedure, a new fresh layer of skin is smooth with diminished wrinkles and glowing with light. Depending on the depth of the peel, many issues can be addressed including minor concerns like blemishes, hyperpigmentation, or sun spots and aging concerns like deep wrinkles, lip lines and acne scars.
“What happens during my laser procedure?”
Prior to treatment, your esthetician will cleanse the treatment areas and shield your eyes with safety protection. During the procedure, the laser handpiece will be positioned above the skin as the Sciton® system scans and directs the laser around the treatment area. While this is non-invasive, we provide topical anesthetics and a cooling system to minimize discomfort. We also recommend using some of our medical grade skincare products to protect your skin as it heals.
“When you say ‘customizable,’ does that include the strength of my laser and the number of treatments?”
Yes, Sciton® allows each patient to control the depth of each peel and the number of treatments they need to achieve the results they desire. This can reduce overall downtime and the need for multiple treatments. For example, a patient who does not want extensive downtime after a peel can choose a series of lighter, less invasive treatments while another patient who only wants one, full treatment can choose a stronger peel and only one period of downtime following the treatment.
Our Sciton® systems at AYA™ Avalon in Alpharetta, Northside, and Phipps Plaza are safe and effective as it remains a non-invasive skin treatment that addresses skin concerns and induces collagen production for long-lasting results.
