Frequently Asked Questions about Summer Skin Care

August 05, 2011 | Blog, Microdermabrasion, Other, Skin Care

Q.  What’s the advantage of having microdermabrasion treatment at the same time as a chemical peel?

By receiving microderm at the same time as a chemical peel you’re maximizing the rejuvenating effects of both treatments. During a MicroPeel, microdermabrasion gently exfoliates the dead, dull surface skin cells and allows a customized chemical peel to better penetrate the skin and improve targeted skin issues.

Q.  How is the light used in an IPL treatment different from being out in the sun?

Intense pulsed light treatment, or IPL, is different from sun exposure because of the type and wavelength of light applied to the skin.  Unlike unprotected sun exposure, during which UVA and UVB waves can cause sunburn and sun damage, FotoFacial RF® treatment applies non-ablative, precise pulses of light and controlled heat to break up areas of hyperpigmentation (sunspots) and firm lax skin without damaging the skin’s surface.

Q.  Is there any particular skincare product I should pack for vacation?

Since we know you’ve already packed your sunscreen to protect against sun damage and premature aging, we’d also recommend taking along a good moisturizer to ensure your skin is well protected from the elements and is prepared to absorb the other corrective products you may be using.  It’s a good idea to undergo a skin analysis so that one of our estheticians can evaluate your skin’s current condition and recommend skin treatments and/or skin care products that will be the most effective for you.

Q.  Is there any way to dye my eyelashes darker so that I don’t have to use mascara this summer?

Eyelash tinting is a great idea for summertime because it allows you to create the same balanced, aesthetically pleasing appearance that eye makeup provides without the hassle of having to reapply or maintain makeup at the pool, beach or during other outdoor summer activities.  AYA’s certified Tattoo Procedure Makeup artists can apply a mineral-based dye to the eyelashes that lasts two to three months.  Additionally, our Tattoo Procedure Makeup artists are also expert in applying tattooed makeup like eyeliner and eyebrow pigment to eliminate the need for further definition with cosmetics.
