The Basics of Chemical Peels

March 13, 2015 | Blog, Chemical Peels, Other

Rarely is there a time when you hear the word “chemical” and think, “yeah, that sounds awesome, sign me up!”  In the case of chemical peels, this is exactly what you should be saying.  If you are one of the many people who are troubled with skin concerns like acne, wrinkles, uneven skin tone or even rosacea, an AYA Medical Spa chemical peel may be just the facial rejuvenation treatment you need.  To debunk a few misconceptions we often hear from our patients, we wanted to share some of the basics of the chemical peels we offer and how they can help men and women of all ages attain the healthy, glowing skin they deserve.

At AYA, we believe that skincare should be personalized.  As every individual’s skin is unique, the same approach should be used when planning effective treatments. For this reason (among several others we will get to in a minute), our patients are fond of chemical peels because they come in a variety of medical grade strengths that can be customized to address a multitude of unique skin types and conditions.  Essentially chemical peel solution is topically applied to a patient’s skin where it is then given time to penetrate the outermost layers of the face to exfoliate dead skin cells and encourage collagen regrowth.  The procedure itself is relatively painless; some patients who have sensitive skin may experience slight discomfort but we always provide a cooling device to reduce discomfort for our patients.  Treatments last 30 minutes to an hour depending on the peel you’re given and require minimal downtime as your skin begins to peel and reveal clearer, healthier skin below.

The first step to clearer skin is a skin analysis.  During your complimentary consultation, one of our experienced estheticians will evaluate your skin, talk about your goals for your skin and discuss the best possible chemical peels to help you get the cosmetic treatment results you want.  With five main chemical peels we offer, check out a few highlights of each of their benefits:
