Laser Hair Removal is Back In

September 08, 2011 | Blog, Laser Hair Removal, Other

Each year as the summer starts winding down, the licensed estheticians at AYA Medical Spa notice more and more patients seeking laser hair removal. It’s no surprise that a summer full of shaving and waxing to achieve that smooth, hair-free appearance would spark the desire for a longer lasting option, but did you know that this time of year is actually more suitable for laser hair removal?

As we highlighted in our blog about laser skin treatments being perfect for the end of winter, the sun should be avoided for a few weeks following laser treatments to prevent pigmentation irregularities associated with sun damage.  If you must go into the sun after laser treatment, be sure to wear SPF 30 sunscreen as well as protective clothing. Avoiding the sun and wearing protective clothing is much easier this time of year, not to mention the added benefit of being ready to debut your skin by next year’s swim season.

Laser hair removal can be an extensive process.  Because the hair grows in cycles (some hairs growing while others are resting), laser hair removal requires multiple treatments (usually 4-6) so that the lasers can catch each hair in its growing phase. Treatment sessions are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, so having laser hair removal now will allow plenty of time to prepare for next spring and summer.

We often have hair removal patients ask if our technology is safe for their complexions.  AYA Medical Spa is proud to offer three different types of the highest quality medical-grade lasers that are safe for all skin types. If you are hesitant about our lasers with your unique complexion, feel free to schedule a consultation or complimentary skin analysis so we can further discuss your concerns. We even test a small area before the treatment to ensure safety.

Safety is a top priority at AYA, and all of our laser technicians are highly trained to reduce the chance of laser treatment complications. However, it’s also up to the patient to reduce risks associated with laser treatment. Whether they’re receiving laser vein removal, laser skin resurfacing, or other laser treatment, it’s up to the patient to follow post laser treatment instructions like avoiding the sun and wearing sunscreen. More aftercare instructions will be available upon treatment completion.

It’s important to find a reputable medical spa with licensed laser technicians to perform laser hair removal. AYA offers a variety of other cosmetic skin treatments like facial fillers, cosmetic injectables, customized facials, and so much more, so be sure to check out the rest of our website. If you haven’t already, be sure to connect with us on Facebook and Twitter for skin care news and information on our monthly specials.
